Its sad. 35 years ago it was one of the best malls in the US.

Yep, I practically grew up there. I still have dreams about it from when it was more or less the (pop) cultural epicenter of this town back in the late 70s or thereabouts. It was a kid's heaven on earth back then. It's downright spooky now.

Outdoor malls are much better. No place for the trash to hang out and soak up free AC.

hat's exactly what it's turned into. They just loiter around the mall, don't buy anything, curse loudly, fight, and eye rape women. They run in packs of about 30 - 40. Police were nowhere to be found.

Pretty pathetic.

My wife won't go alone anymore b/c of that. Sadly that's whats gonna be a problem for the mall..People will start shopping else where. I do think though the mall will survive based off its location alone, but it's not a place i'll spend money in the future.

thanks for the downvote whoever thinks malls are not on deathwatch.

The latest figures, from the WSJ

"Vacancies at large malls in the top 80 U.S. markets rose to 9% in the second quarter."
Mall vacancies have increased steadily for nearly four years(!)."
Lease rates at US malls fell for the seventh consecutive quarter.
Plus, strip mall vacancies rose to nearly 11%, the highest rate in almost two decades.

I agree. Wonderful place years ago. Watched every blockbuster movie there in the 70s - 80s blew hundreds in the arcade. Bought my First Rolex at Lee Michaels tons of Lps at the Music store. Lot of memories. Adobe Western for boots, Orange Bowl, Swiss Pretzel, Chocolate Chip Factory.

We did that on Friday nights. First stop was to the cologne counter in Dillard's for a large sample spray of Polo.

No brag, just a really good memory. I saw Raiders,Moonraker,Red Dawn and many others there. Had my first date at Cortana too.
Conned my brother in to dropping us off at the Village for dinner then took her to the movies.

The ones that look like mini downtown areas of cities are popular here. With storefronts facing streets built into the shopping area and condos and office buildings located on the second floor. And large courtyard common areas.

45 years ago I was launching my model rockets in the field that became Cortana.

I'll assume Bon Marche isn't around anymore.
