BRPD to temporarily increase patrols

In light of the shooting in Lafayette, BRPD will increase patrols where people congregate locally. This will continue through this weekend and into next week. Dabadie says they will reasses afterwards if the need continues.
Would you like to see this become permanent?
I'll sit back and listen.

May I suggest some zip codes?

I don't see how it will prevent a psycho lone wolf from carrying out an act such as the one last night. This is simply a PR gesture. Not saying that it's not a good gesture, I just don't think it would be effective.

This should definitely be permanent. Baton Rouge is on the upswing and I think more police presence could help.

I've been playing the expired inspection sticker game for a while. I'm gonna have to step my game up with these extra revenue generators on the streets.

Maybe it will make them focus on something other than inspection stickers.
While I think this is a needed gesture to ease people's minds this weekend, in the long term it probably isn't necessary in the good areas of town. If someone wants to frick shite up they will, regardless of police patrol or area.

just in case some crazy old man from Lafayette wants to come start trouble over here

Yes this should be perminent but unfortunately this will solve nothing in the way of a lone gunman looking to make a name for himself.

Just left Pixels at the BR Mall...5 cop cars and about 10 officers inside the theater.

What about movies on the lawn tonight?
I don't need a bunch of cops hanging out in my chill time out there.

BRPD will increase patrols where white people are to increase profits
All that means is more checkpoints

I don't either. Those 2 ladies seated directly in front of that nut wouldn't have had a chance unless a cop was seated right next to him. In fact the cop may have been his first victim. Why aren't there metal detectors at the entrances of movie theaters with shite like this happening so often now??

We can't live in a world of metal detectors.

Police can't provide private security at every business.

You wanna pay $50 to go see a movie to pay for such security measures?

The Baton Rouge black ops/ swat dudes are pretty bad arse. It would cost a lot but I wouldnt mind seeing those mustangs driving around some and the bird in the air more often.
I agree it won't help much with lone wolf.
They earn their money though. I've observed them at parades and whatnot and they are operating at high level. Full operational awareness.
Disclaimer: not biased, no self dealing in making said statements. Just impressed.

I would like to see it become permanent. I'm in the minority here, but if society is migrating to a deeper phase of fricked up and we continue to sit idly by and let it happen, we're just as stupid. This keeps happening but yet we as a society continue to discuss how fricked up it is until the next big news story and our focus shifts again. Then another shooting happens and we're back at square one - debating what to do and nothing ever gets decided upon. I'd like to see mandatory metal detector searches at all areas where families congregate in large numbers.
I told you I'd be in the minority with my thoughts.

If this means they focus on crime and quit obsessing over speeding tickets and MIPs, I'm all for it

Typical reactionary response. Useless, IMO.

So every bar, restaurant, theater, Walmart, shopping center, etc. will have extra cops. Must've hired a bunch more police today.
