The Baton Rouge Police Department has placed on administrative leave the officer who shot and killed a man during a traffic stop Tuesday evening. Officials say Yuseff Hamadeh, 27, has been on administrative leave since the shooting occurred.

According to sources, Frazier was shot at least three times - chest, arm, and leg. Witnesses reported hearing five or six shots. Sources stated Frazier's girlfriend was driving and pulled over without any problems, but as the officer was approaching the driver, Frazier reportedly got out of the passenger side. "The passenger exited the vehicle holding a gun and the officers fired upon that passenger," Sr. Tpr. Bryan Lee with LSP said. "The passenger was pronounced deceased and no officers were injured."

Isn't it SOP to place an officer on admin leave after a shooting while investigation is being done?

probably that the officer was put on administrative leave. Seems fairly standard considering the situation

The fact that it is even questionable as to why a police officer would shoot someone who suddenly got out of a car waving a gun at the officers is just indicative of how far down the wrong rabbit hole we have descended here in the United States.

Eh. There's been enough questionable shootings lately it's hard to get mad about it.

I think it's policy and if not it should be.

It serves the public interest and it probably serves the officer's best interest too.

You have to know the cop needs his space and time to decompress and reflect before he resumes his duties. It's not just about whether the cop did right or not, it is also about his well being.

They might as well take away all guns from police officers.
If you fire a weapon you are most likely going on paid admin leave.

Putting the officer on leave is good, common sense.

I'm pretty sure middle eastern decent still equals Caucasian from an anthropological standpoint.
