This problem has gone on for awhile.

Low pay, low numbers, and public safety is short changed.

We need to take care of basic services first and all the other extras should be next.

I retired in Mississippi and got my first check the next day. I retired on the 31st and my first retirement check was in the back on the 1st.

I did not know it was immediate. I am glad they do not make you wait until Soc. Sec. age.

What bait are they using for these "traps"?

They take a stretch like the one described that should have a 55-60 mph speed limit, make it 45 mph, and Boom, right in the kisser.

More unpassed tax, quota victims caught in the trap, feeling like a rabid wolverine.

No one wants to work for a city in which the mayor does not support their police force.

You think Stanford should be a 60 mph zone?

Louisiana is a 30 year plan. You can collect after 30 years or 12 and you are 55.

Mississippi is 30 years now. I retired under the 25 year system

Sure there are knuckleheads in the police force with complexes but I would wager the majority are probably looking to provide for their families and do an interesting job that can contribute to society

Those douchebags with complexes can still achieve the latter simultaneously and they do.

Welcome to era of "community policing" where your only weapon is your menacing voice and cool looking uniform.

Ok, so we are agreed that there's, and I contend a minority, that are douchebags, do you want to do away with law enforcement because there might be bad officers? You will still call the cops at when it suits your needs.

My point is that society needs law enforcement is integral to providing the safety and security you want and need in your life.

You probably complain about crime or lambast foreign policy of the United States on Iran but have no interest in taking an oath and serving the republic. To quote on of my favorite books Starship Troopers

quote:

Tell me the moral difference, if any, between the citizen and the civilian?. A soldier accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic of which he is a member, defending it, if need be, with his life. The civilian does not."

If you dislike the way things are done then take part in the process. I'd guess your primary interest is
Making money and furthering your lifestyle.

We were discussing the trap by the mall Passover. There are no lights and it is a ramp to speed up to get on the interstate.
