0 tolerance for drunk driving. Doesn't matter if he was .0000001 over the legal limit. If you are near the legal limit, call a cab/friend/family member.

It's the most avoidable death in this country. He's not going to learn any lesson by being bailed out by family. DUI punishments are too lax. Castration/execution/amputation are all acceptable punishments in my book for any offense.

Smoking induced lung cancer is by far the most avoidable death in this country.

Smoking is an addiction, much harder to break an addiction than calling a cab to take you home. Seriously though, a small fine and a slap on the wrist is all your brother is getting. That won't stop him from doing it again, and maybe this time he'll kill an innocent family.

Good for you. That doesn't mean other rational people should view the offense in a moronic dichotomy.

Next time shite dipshit is drunk driving, I hope he hits one of your family members and paralyzes or kills them, maybe you will have a different opinion.

How about a little compassion on Easter weekend? Throw him a $100-200 as long he understands drunk driving is serious he must stop that shite.

you have the emotions of a pregnant woman. Get a hold of yourself. Go smoke a bowl or something.

So does your logic apply to speeding, sober wreckless driving, driving tired, etc? Because the exact same argument could be made for all 3, indeed, an even stronger argument I would say.

The fine is just a drop in the bucket for what he will have to pay.
OP good for you getting him out, kick his arse after you get him home

He wants our families to die because we have a less extreme version of the same opinion as him. What a nut.

If he asked you for it right off the bat, rather than try and make the $$ somewhere, frick him. How much time does he have to pay this? He's going to just immediately ask for handouts from you and the parents as a first step? That pattern will surely continue.

I am passionate about DUIs. I've lost family members to it, and think it's such a senseless act. Bottom line, OP's brother needs a real lesson. I know too many people with 5+ DUIs still on the roads. Complete lack of care for the lives of anyone else.

Hope his brother learns from this and has taxi cabs in his phone. 1st DUI should be a hefty fine and some jail time, license suspension. 2nd time should be serious jail time. Everyone deserves a second chance, but risk someone else's life a second time around, then no sympathy from me.
