Good Lord.

The Doug I met was such an insufferable pain in the arse that he couldn't keep a kitchen staff and we would sometimes get scheduled to work a shift over there when they were short handed.

Jay: "You want some more hours?"

Me: "Yep, sure"

Jay: "Let me see if Doug needs a hand over there."

Me: "Goddamnit"

But, the deal was he couldn't fire us so if we pissed him off bad enough he would just send us back and call Jay to bitch about it.

I've worked here for 20 plus years and never had a problem. Government street Mid City is booming. Square 46, Gouter, Curbside, Radio Bar, Doe's, Superior, Byrons, Beer Garden coming, and dozens more.

Yes, this didn't take place in "north" Baton Rouge, but close enough.

You can't possibly be that stupid can you?

This. People in this thread acting like it's better than countless neighborhoods in south BR just bc it has a few restaurants and shops. It's still down the street from the ghetto. And obviously the people in the ghetto are targeting it. I'd much rather live farther away from restaurants and be able to live in safety

Be careful, you are gonna upset the people who paid 400k for a 100 year old 2000 sq ft home within walking distance of some of the worst parts of BR.

I live in mid-city and am excited that my property value will be skyrocketing in the next 5 years. Crime happens everywhere, shite happens.

It is. I don't see too many reports like this year round. I dont feel unsafe in that area. There are even events like white light night that go on in the area.

Not married. Have a friend who owns some rental property in mid-city he wanted me to invest in with him. I declined and during the remodeling of them, every one was broken into and all the appliances stolen. I just dont think its a safe area anymore and its def not worth what people are paying. It probably used to be a very nice, safe area. But like most places in BR it has deteriorated.

Don't forget, this is BR. Nearly every good neighborhood is still within walking distance of Section 8 housing. While some good areas may be closer to the hood than others, no where, I repeat, NO WHERE IS SAFE. There is property crime in every corner of EBR Parish committed by the same demographic: African American males between the ages of 15 and 35.

How did this happen? How did good neighborhoods get surrounded by shitheads? White flight? Or did some developer put shitty housing next to them?
I'm not even gonna comment on the criminal element. Just glad EBR elected a mayor that will go after the hooligans

It is incredible the money being invested in mid city right now. There are some huge houses going up in old goodwood & the development down Corporate, Jefferson and Government isn't stopping. People can bitch all they want on here, the proximity to downtown, LSU and all the businesses in the city of BR makes it a desirable place to live. There are shitty neighborhoods all over BR, you aren't exactly escaping it by moving south or out of town, unless you want an hour commute.

Like this doesn't happen with new construction all over south Louisiana.

from a friend that lives down the street from BrewBachers

i think he was waiting on an employee to come out or go in bc thats wehre he went in. but apparently he put a gun to the guys head and told the other employees to get back. and the employees jumped him

so the guy left. walked back down our street and thats when drew and his roommate decided to follow him. he parked his car on rapides the street over. and they called the cops, followed him to off of sherwood when the cops pulled up. he said then it got exciting. ha
