Lots of triggered simpletons in this thread so far.
BS, it's mostly you and a few others gloating over something that doesn't change one thing about anybody's lives

You missed the point.
(EDIT: which is doubly hilarious that you later called others "simpletons")
I didn't say that she was the first, or that it wasn't planned.
The fact is that she did it in a hostile environment to prove a point, and was willing to suffer whatever consequences that followed.
Watch the outcry if Bree even gets charged even though there is not the slightest argument that laws were broken.

I don't care one way or another on the issue but with the amount of attention it is getting people are going to try to to latch on to it for all the wrong reasons
"look at me, look how tolerant i am, look what i did to prove it...and people will dump praise upon the individual because hey, I am tolerant too!"
I think there was a better more appropriate way to go about it, to humbly make a statement

Mostly this

Ooooh that's right, she's an attention whore who only wants her name in the papers because this is the current hot button issue that will pass over in a week.
There's no way for you to know that. I think it's clear the reason this has become a hot topic issue is because of the nature of the incident in Charleston, Roof's affinity for the Confederate Flag, and the fact that the state it happened in still proudly flies it.
I would imagine the recent Charleston shooting is likely what made her decided to act. I think it's a fair assumption that she waited to see if the state would take it down on their own, and then took the time to purchase the climbing and safety equipment necessary to scale the pole.

Lol. You are so fricking naive. This woman is an activist. Most likely a paid activist. I guarantee you she was fricking thrilled to death when those poor people were killed and even more thrilled when she found out it was a white boy who liked the confederate flag.

ob·tuse
adjective: obtuse
1.
annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand.

You can guarantee me that? Interesting.

But what about the other symbols he had which do have racial connotations?
Why are they ignored completely and a laser focus on one? If he chose to commit the act and involved the flag in it I would get it.
But it reeks of them rummaging through his history for political ammo and running with it.
I can only imagine the shite that would have ensued if he was an active member of the NRA, which like the make and model of his car, has nothing to do with racism.
But that connection would have been advertised nonetheless.

It's a fair assumption. Just as fair as any if your assumptions in this thread.
What would you say if a white guy climbed a flag pole and took down the rainbow flag in the name of god?
You'd ridicule him and call him a bigot. Because you're a hypocrite.

Well there kinda is.
For starters, as mentioned, she's had what..roughly 20 years or so to do this? So we know for a fact she wasn't in any hurry and if she was just REALLY FIRED UP about that evil flag and what she thinks it stands for, she would have done this a long time ago.

Yeah, because a racist dumbass who is barely out of puberty did something stupid. Then dumbass business and dumbass people on social media found their newest cause to rally behind to make this a big deal. And she wanted to get her turn in the spotlight. That flag is literally no different today than it was 2 weeks ago. The only thing that's changed is the absolute morons who get told what their opinions should be by the media.
Do you think all the employees in the St.Pete City Hall are going to fly a flag with a pot leaf on it the day the marijuana is legalized nationwide? Doubtful. Yet they flew a gay flag, at a frickin government building, just to get their name in the headlines. This woman is no different. She's the same person as the idiot who saw bruce jenner getting headlines adn then claimed she is transracial because she "identifies" with another race. People forgot about that woman in 10 minutes, just like come Tuesday nobody will know WTF bree newsome is either.

I'd say it's awesome because I'm not a proponent of gay marriage and am a social conservative on many issues

for starters I'd ask why a rainbow flag is flying on a statehouse.

It's flying from the NY City Hall right now. The US Embassies fly on national gay day or whatever it's called

Oh good. That damn flag was going all Sauron's all-seeing eye on us. I heard it was wreaking havoc on that damn rope tied around the pole. Brave woman.
