EMS officials in the Texas capital confirmed that a woman aged in her 30s was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were transported to hospital.

They added "multiple incidents" had occurred in the E. 6th Street area, near the Friends Bar.

According to NBC station KXAN, paramedics said several patients who had suffered bullet wounds were believed to be in the area.

At least four gunshots could be heard on footage posted on social media. However, it was unclear whether they were from the original incident or potentially the police response.

I have no idea what is going on, but as soon as I logged into Twitter I saw this about downtown Baton Rouge.

I was just there a weekend ago. Wow

Good news is there are a lot of police posted at most cross streets up and down 6th so hopefully it's already over

Isn't Austin full of Liberal Arts majors that wear beanies during the summer?

East 6th is the front line where gentrification hits the ghetto.

ETA: the Austin police chief said an hour or 2 ago that there wasn't an active shooter, but that there were separate incidents that occurred near each other.

no, this isnt that "east"

The dividing line is Congress Ave. So Dirty 6th, "6th St" is all on East Sixth.

East of I35 used to be the no-fly zone for ghetto, but that's no longer the case

this shooting happened on 6th & San Jack, right smack dab in the middle of the traditional "6th St Bars"

Time for the "Breaking" news guys on here to cool it with active shooter threads unless there really is an active shooter somewhere.

Posters that do this are just like the news media. Trying to be cool with the first report. Whether or not facts are there to back it up. Td.com is usually good about squashing threads like this, but since the BR shootings it seems everyday crime gets hyped up.

From a Facebook post 5 hours ago: "There was about 15 police cars and a helicopter circling 3rd Street where Shlitz and Giggles and Canes is located. Does anyone know what the heck is going on???"

Sounds like Saturday night drunks being belligerent when the boys in blue are on high alert. Not a smart time to get in a cops grill.

Yeah, I was just gonna point out the difference between being east of Congress and east of 35. I'm glad east of 35 is getting better. Was a shithole when I was there. Any news on what happened? Domestic terrorism or just a fight that got out of hand?
