The BRBR showed us how Radu Cosman was able to purchase a piece of valuable property from the city for only $10,000.00, and now they tell us he got another good deal in a similar manner in 2013 on another piece of property that Councilman Heck help declare it as surplus.
But this time there was a City-Parish appraisal and the City-parish Council approved the sale even though the auction price came in $200,000.00 under the city's appraised value.
This guy is doing pretty well.

quote:
Developer Radu Cosman paid for an appraisal on the 22,000-square-foot piece of land fronting Bluebonnet Boulevard in the Inniswold Estates neighborhood in 2013. That appraisal, completed by RHI Appraisals, found the property was only worth $42,000.
But the city commissioned its own appraisal on the land—which the city-parish owned—and found it was worth $255,000.
Cosman earlier that year had asked his representative on the Metro Council, Ryan Heck, to declare the land surplus and have the city sell it to him. The land is located behind Cosman’s house. The council then approved the land to be sold at auction, where Cosman outbid one other person and bought the property for $50,000.
This guy is doing pretty well.

This is what grinds ma gears. If this was a private deal sure.
But these 'steals' are stealing money from EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH.
You should be outraged at these 'steals' as you are about the BRAVE contracts or COA lease agreements.
Y'all are fricking retarded if you think this was just 'smart business'.

All rules were followed, right?
Sounds like there needs to be some new rules, or some more competition bidding on these properties.

You know that "the government" means the residents of EBR, right?

Exactly. I went to Delgado directly and privately about this when it hit the news earlier this week. This is NO different.

Devil's advocate here - he's not a politician or city council member. It's his job to expand his business, not maximize city funds. People should be pissed at the jackasses running the city and green lighting these deals.
