Used to be the go-to kickball pre-game spot. Then George's Southside after.

Now most people go to Rum House before and after.

If you're looking to fall into pussy, Radio Bar on weekends or Bulldog on Wednesday. Too easy.

There still that place across the tracks down by LSU. What the hell the name of that bar...man. It's across from the apartment complex and not in Tigerland. Keep going down that road and you hit the levee.

Brightside Bar and Grill?

It's a place to get crawfish and drink BMC, but not really a place to go meet women.

That 50-cent wing special is nice. We sometimes do Sunday day drinking there as well. Used to be known for expensive drinks, and now they're pretty cheap. $2 shots on Sundays is nice.

Olive or Twist just redid their HH menu, and you can get canned Commotion for $2 during HH and reverse HH. As long as their cans are new-ish, you can't beat that.

I used to mac on a few of the bartenders back in the day. Used to have decent pitcher specials.

Radio Bar is ok for this as well, and has more of a Hipster vibe, if that's what you're into.

About a year ago I would have suggested Radio Bar to OP. In the past year it's become nearly unbearable. If OP is a white cis male he's going to feel out of place.

I mean at least they clean the taps now

They actually ripped out and replaced the entire bar(moved taps and all). Now they have this new fancy cooling system along the entire line from cooler to tap.
Cold and Clean BEERRRRS.

You're right about the old shite.

I partied like a wild man in my day. Now I like nice whiskey and scotch.

I used to go to this place called The Cove before I left BR. It picked up steam around 2011. They had the best beer choice available in BR and hands down the best whiskey/scotch bar.

It never was much a place for the single ladies, but was one of my favorites. Don't remember it being very cheap though.

Its not about where you go, but who you are with.

The Cove is still there.

And Corporate Brew & Draft next door with a shite ton of expensive beers tapped.

Me too, but man if you hit the Uptown Bulldog on the right night or Saturday afternoon life is good.

For your sake and for the sake of all residents in Louisiana. Stay in DC. You bitch and whine about everything anytime someone says something about BR. This dude is looking for advice from people who live and frequent Baton Rouge bars, which you haven't been to in 10 years, and you come in and start shitting on all of them for no real reason. Go back to your safe space.

The Cove

It still gets pretty busy, but it's hard to deal with the smoking indoors sometimes. Owned by the same guy that owns Port Royal. Apparently he's an a-hole, but the drink selection at The Cove is great.

Yeah, same owner as Port Royal and the newish Corporate Brew and Draft. CBD is the best beer selection in town, but I wouldn't say to go there to pick up arse.

I love the heck out of that man.

Happys downtown is really turning into a sweet spot. Unfortunately, the crowd seems to have gotten younger. Seems like a lot of early 20s people just out of college. If you are into that demographic, go for it. Not my cup of tea.
