Recently went into effect on July 1st
The distributors are the ones taxed, but the price increase carries over to consumers. Would it slow you down at all?

The revenue raised is earmarked to be spent on community health programs geared toward low-income populations that see a disparate effect of chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

To Burness, who reports on the health-conscious, highly-educated, high-income community of 105,000 people, the measure’s passage was not a surprise. “If you are trying to start a movement to regulate or tax sugar, Boulder is about as good a place as any on Earth to start,” he says.
quote:
A study of Berkeley’s tax showed a 20 percent drop in consumption of sugary drinks after the city’s tax started. It’s unclear how Boulder’s tax will impact behavior. The Daily Camera’s Alex Burness says they’re still in an experimental phase.

then the government will accuse the merchants of "gouging" the customers
also, time to invest in a quick mart concentrating on sugary drinks juuuuuuuuust outside the city limits of Boulder

Using a tax to artificially raise market prices and manipulate consumer habits should be illegal.

I'd buy outside of Boulder and bring that shite back in bulk.

all "sin-taxes" are ridiculous and should not exist
Will their fancy arse mocha sugary used to resemble coffee beverages be taxed? Doubt it

Agree and the money should go into the healthcare system for all the fat fricks that can't control themselves.

On average, how many people of color do you run into on a given week in Boulder? Not tourist. People who live there.
Just wondering.

So I guess the "it's my body" argument made by progs only applies to abortions?

The people got to vote like we do on almost everything here.
quote:
In the end, voters chose to tax their own sugary drinks by two cents per fluid ounce, 54 percent voting in favor, 46 percent opposed.

So what about alcohol? It's unhealthy and makes people fat. Are you good with raising prices more in order to attempt to reduce overall consumption?
