How many people here are familiar with booray? Or bourre, according to the internet.

I play 2-3 times a year around the holidays and deer camp. Either win big or lose my arse.

Is it more popular in south Louisiana?

I have never seen anyone outside of south la know what it is...I am not familiar with the rules, but it is very common at the hunting camp.

It's common in hunting camps in Mississippi also.

My friends and I used to play this when I was in high school (Brandon, MS).

Like any match pot game, you can make or lose a lot of money.

My all time favorite card game. I love showing it to people outside Louisiana, they really enjoy it.

It used to be common in North La but you don't come across it as much anymore. Its either hold'em or twocard these days.

I've learned to play at least 6 times but I'm always drinking while playing. I can never remember the rules the next time I play. Lol.

Never play with an old grammaw who uses oversized cards to help her see. You've been warned.

Every now and then, we'd clear off the dining room table (which was in the kitchen) and the whole family would play. Good times.

Been playing around the holidays. We play with quarters and set like a $10 limit on the boo. Not trying to clean out the family too much. We also play pass the trash. the 7 year old cousin has been playing with us and pass the trash is more his speed. Fun way to pass the time. More luck based than poker.

One of my favorites but tough to find out side of south Louisiana. Watch out that pot can get big in a hurry and a lot of money can fly.

At least 6 people. At least a $2 ante. 3/2 split is automatic carryover. A boo matches the pot. Drop instead of pass/play.

It's Louisiana's best export.

Yeah. But you had better know what rules you are using. You will be playing along great until someone yells "Golden Meadow rules" of "cinch win." Then your arse is matching the pot.
