When your appetite already sucks, you don’t need thrush/esophagitis making things worse. Use nystatin/magic mouthwash regularly. And make sure to swish and swallow (that’s what she said) to prevent esophagitis, and not swish and spit.
Yeah I had a nasty case of thrush in my first chemo regimen - that magic mouthwash tastes absolutely horrific (think blended oysters with artificial banana flavoring), but it gets the job done.

Thanks everyone for sharing, its been real helpful. I'm going to the bone marrow doc tomorrow for what I presume will be to set everything up. I'll chime back in when I know for sure whats going to happen and when. I'm assuming it'll be the week of the 17th because that's when I'm seeing an appt for 6am labled "admission" but has no details to it.

Regardless of what anyone says on here (myself included), everyone takes treatment differently. Attitude and outlook play a huge role. Just know you’ll be fine, trust the doctors and nurses, and you’ll be fine.

My brother went through this at Vanderbilt about 5 years ago. It was a hard regimen, but he got through it and it looks like it has been highly successful.

It will be hard, but you can get through it, and it will give you the best chance of surviving the cancer. Hang in there.

Have you had a bone marrow aspiration already?

I would think the act of making the hole for that aspiration would be your expectation of pain? Going into a bone like that is no joke, but after doing that whether they remove marrow or inject marrow should be minimal in difference?

Also, frick cancer. AND frick an opioid epidemic. Ask for pain meds and take them. Not saying to become a pill head, but obtaining or infusing bone marrow are one of the reasons God made the poppy plant.
