The X7 will be built at BMW’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina and should reach showrooms late next year. It was confirmed as early as 2014 and prototypes have been running in the wild since at least 2016. We’re expecting it as a 2019 model. BMW’s absence from the segment was notable, as the automaker was a pioneer with its original X5, arguably one of the first SUVs to offer car-like ride and handling. The X5 also proved a key player in transforming the SUV segment into a mainstream one. Like the X5, the X7 should quickly prove to be one of the more compelling options in its class. Potential rivals include the Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Land Rover Range Rover.

Looks great except for the kidneys. They look like beaver teeth or Mater.

I see its getting the new corporate front too.

I am hoping the M2 refresh will get the upgraded front too next year, alongside the new halo car.

When will a German company make a vehicle comparable in size to the Suburban?

The answer is probably never since it would only do well in the States, but I wish one of them would try.

Seems like every automaker is moving towards the "Angry chink - eyes" headlights look.

That's just a concept version of what the X7 will be, but god is it ugly.

The factory in Spartanburg is a cool visit if you're ever in the area.

Is that a pic of the concept or the actual production model?

Seems a bit too exaggerated to be the production model.

I dig it.

Any word on whether or not they will come out with an electric model on this one?

I think that is to comply with EU regulations so that when you hit a pedestrian he/she/it falls back rather than over the vehicle.

Below is the concept 8 series.

More than likely will be only a smidgen toned down.

This and Mercedes' GLS are pretty large. Little bit more expensive than a burban though.

They aren't Suburban large though. Suburban has almost 2' of additional length. A 3 row SUV that has no space for cargo for 3 rows of people is useless to me.

BMW is trying to take a more aggressive approach with the incoming 8 series, Zedd 4 and apparently X7 as well.

Hence my hope that the M2 will recieve the updated front fascia.

I have heard of a CS version with the S55 Engine (M3/M4) toned down coming in but will be limited production model.

The interior on all their vehicles is fricking sexy.
