BMW’s sector-defining 3 Series has turned 40, so the start of the story is in 1975—except it isn’t. You have to go back much further: past the early '70s when work began on the first 3 Series, and even back beyond the 1966 predecessor that set the pattern for compact BMWs. You have to reverse all the way back to 1959.

That does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and has shitloads of technology.

With the M-Sport package it looks great:

POS car that's owned by people who wish they had money who enjoy car payments.

I don't care what the haters say, I've had two and they've been great cars. Had a '92 and '03. The BMW inline 6 them is up there on the list of great engines.

Too bad it's now the size that the 5 series used to be. I was behind an M4 today and while I'm sure it's a great car, it's just too big.

I've got my 318 stored away waiting for my nephew to get old enough to drive it. Great car. Runs like a top.

The old joke:

What's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?

The pricks are on the outside of the porcupine.

Or maybe for a person that doesn't want a large sedan but something fun to drive. I'd rather pay cash for a 3 series than finance a 7 series. Not to mention one is sporty while the other is a tank.

I've owned a 2007 E92 335i and a 2012 335i sedan. They are amazing cars and they are packed with technology. I miss the HUD from my 2012. Of course there are people with no experience with the car that think it's cool and edgy to shite on absolutely everything.

This. Got my 335i almost 2 years ago. Wanted an agile driving experience on the road and even in and out of parking lots. It's a fun car.... And then there is sport mode. It's a beautiful car.

Great cars.

I fell in love with 'em at O.E. Herring Motors in NOLA about a bazillion years ago.

phenomenal cars. family had a 99 e46 323 and I had an 04 e46 325. handling in the vehicle was unreal, plus the build quality was still one of the best i've ever had, especially in it's class. everything about it felt sturdy and well put together.
