I think the justification is just the logistics of getting around if there is a massive amount of people. Not a safety issue. At least that's what I think people would say.

Makes your employees think that you care about them. I think most companies would be willing to spare 2 inefficient work hours to avoid the possibility of something happening to one of their employees. Same reason every school in Alabama closes for tornado watches these days. Not worth an afternoon at school and risking kids being stuck at school/on the way home when a storm hits... Or maybe they're closing so that they don't get accused of being racist for keeping their black employees at work so they can't go to the BLM protest. Who knows.

It just isn't worth the risk. If I worked downtown I'd be nervous as hell leaving work right as that was happening. It isn't really going to cost the business much by closing down for an hour or two early this once, but would be pretty awful *if* something did happen.

I'm planning to go see for myself. Though there was a guy that just got shot leaving Saturn at like half past midnight two days ago. As always, be careful I guess.

Welcome to the Ham. The change in Avondale (and even downtown) from ten years ago is incredible. Still can get shot there apparently. From all accounts, guy was totally minding his own business and not doing anything but walking to his car w his girlfriend. We have several mutual friends. Word is he is a great guy and prospects for full recovery are great.

Ronnie is a cool dude. Hate that happened to him, but glad that he will be okay. Apparently a car drove up beside them and were demanding them to stop walking and to come to the car window. Well, they kept walking, and the motherfricker shot him in the back.
