I do think people who will pay thousands to go on a canned hunt are lame as frick, though.

Whether it's in Africa or Texas.

You are probably well intentioned but just misinformed. You don't appear to be a hunter and disapprove of others participating in it. Or perhaps just African big game. Try reading about some of the hunting exploits of big game hunters throughout the previous 100 years. I suggest Peter Capstick books. You could use an education on the subject.

You are obviously knowledgeable about the subject and well informed. Kudus to you for attempting to educate some of these fine folks. It's like trying to explain how to fly the space shuttle to a damn taxi driver. Lol. Just because people can't afford to do it (and I am one of those) or don't understand it they condemn it. It's understandable but sad. Hunters are responsible for most of these animals existing today. They don't have a clue.

Maybe we should hunt tigers and get them off the endangered species list

How do some of you explain how the elephant populations in countries that allow hunting are higher than in places where hunting is banned?

As far as I know there's no ban on elephant hunting in Arkansas, and I can't see how it's helped the population at all as you claim.

Arbengal is correct, however for conservationist efforts to work, the species needs to have adequate habitat and protection from poaching......something tigers severely lack. We can do a lot to help bring a species back. However we can't seem to stop progress.

A lot of these big game hunters do their hunting with submachine guns.

Doubtful. Submachine guns fire a pistol caliber bullet that doesn't pack a lot of punch. Not smart at all for big game, which is usually hunted with very large caliber rifles.

So, do you take both the Elepant and the hunter to the taxidermist for a re-enactment/action mount?
