Looking to transfer some tapes over to digital and need a working beta player. It's a shot in the dark, but there's got to be one somewhere out there....

Beta-related question on the OT.

I chortled.

If serial, go on the eBays and look for one. Clean the heads before you use it.

My dad still has our old one in storage somewhere. Not even going to try and dig it out of The Great Pile, though.

Try Ebay or somewhere like that.

The Great Pile

I ended up with the family house after the parental units crossed over the River Styx in the Early '90s.

I finally finished sorting through our family's Great Pile in July of 2005. Fortunate I did as what was left would have then been the Great Soggy Thrown-Out Pile a month later.

Wish you would have posted this about a year ago, I chunked a near perfect condition one. Seriously. Posted all over asking if anyone wanted it and got no responses

Seems like people are listing them for mostly around $100 on ebay.

I'm just curious, but does OP have some rare videos or family videos on betamax? I imagine that the quality of the transfers won't be that great.

Better than not being able to view them at all is the working theory.

Ebay will have to be the way more than likely, just fishing around for a local one that may be useable before the uncertainty of ebay.

The monetary value or ease of disposal of The Pile don't mean anything to me. Honestly, selling anything that meant something to my father will, I know, hurt me, for a multitude of reasons.

I looked them up on Amazon out of curiosity.
They seemed to have held their value.

Mine wasn't fiscal either, it was memoriabilia and the finality of going through that shite and the Save pile being tiny and the Shitcan pile being huge.

Files from the old man at his work when we were kids, it gave me a better perspective on the balance between work and family. Family correspondence, just having to process every piece of it. I should have delegated it to a sibling, but now I'm glad I personally did it.

I won't leave that much for my kids to have to go through.

My gems on here on T-Ds are in the public domain.

Why? Nothing compares to the authentic and genuine feel of a Betamax watching experience.

Good Lord.......... I remember when that thing was released. It was so damn expensive and so were the movies for it.
