Well, we thought we should bring him with us since he was only 14 when we moved here. I know. Helicopter parent.

Thanks a lot, I was hoping to get your input. He's actually much more interested in moose than people, so maybe Fairbanks would be better for him?

He's very interested in Montana, but it's pricey for non-residents.

Probably. He should check into the wildlife biology program. Some of the biologist I know spend much of their time out in the field.

I was RNR at LSU, and most of our junior year and our entire senior year was out in the field. Makes class so much more fun and interesting.

You can either read about soils in a textbook, or you can go outside and dig them up. No brainer for me

UA Fairbanks is the main campus, but UA Sitka is much more beautiful.

I haven't heard any good things about Alaska-Fairbanks. I have two close friends who work there at the moment, and they despise it.

Anchorage on the other hand is a great city.

They participate in the WUE program. Tuition would be about the same as you'd pay to send him to Eugene...

UAS has a sweet campus in Juneau. On Auke Lake and Auke Bay, has a great view of the Mendenhall Glacier

FWIW, The U of Alaska system is experiencing a similar budget crisis as Louisiana, but even worse. I would be wary of going there without strong assurances my degree program would not be on the chopping block. Alaska Pacific University is a private school in Anchorage he might check out.

My brother went to UAA for a bit before transferring to another school. He didn't have anything positive to say about it.

That sounds like a much more fun curriculum than Accounting.

Doesn't pay nearly as well, but a hell of a lot more fun.
