She taught me the right thing to do is not always and sometimes never the easiest. I have always lived that way and have a peaceful conscious.

Can't come up with a thing but I do remember her telling me sometime around 1970 or so, when I was 5, that she hoped the war in Vietnam didn't end before I was old enough to be drafted.

I guess the main thing was how to pack up a 3 bedroom house into a ford station wagon quietly under the cover of darkness in order to get out of an unfavorable lease. While I haven't used that lesson I can pack a box of dishes like a pro....

Mine too.

She also taught me a love of learning about my family's history, history itself, how to cook (including how to make a roux), and how to iron because she said no wife of mine ought to have to iron my clothes.
