Get in bed about 1 hour before your target time to sleep. Start reading a book.

someone recommended unisom to me

The first time I took a Unisom, it knocked me out quick.

But my body adjusted to it and now doesn't work so well.

Tolerance to antihistamines builds up quick. They are good for a short term fix but that's it.

Doxylamine succinate (Unisom SleepTabs) works better for me.

This stuff is awesome. I think it's the original formulation for dramamine that would knock you the F out. Just look for the active ingredient when buying OTC sleep meds, and buy the cheapest one that has what you want.

I switch. Benadryl one night, nothing next night, Ibuprofen, etc.

Unisom seems to work pretty well. I can take half of a 25mg, and it works damn good. Give it a shot, there are a billion sleep-aids out there though.

Nyquil helps

Yes it does, but in the morning I feel super groggy/sleepy even if I slept awhile.

But they are all based on the two chemical compositions I named. Just get the generic store brand of either and save your liver from ingesting the other meds included in those packages.

It's the OT. Physiology dictates that humans do not sleep soundly after ingesting alcohol...but it is cool to say "Just get wasted on Tequila!"
