And that was my point.

My point (which I'm sure you will take offense to) is why waste him...OPs kid is obviously intelligent, and SHOULD look into any T rating (ST,IT,CT etc). These rates have lengthy schools, and in my case they count as college courses.

Most air force jobs can't be guaranteed...when they pick a job you are also assigned 2 or 3 other fields and in air force basic you are actually tested to see what job you get.

is this recruiter talk or is it fact?

I do take offense to the notion that going into combat arms is "wasting him" as though those of us who served in combat arms were stupid or something.

Fact. They have certain jobs they can guarantee, but a majority you pick your primary job then they put 2 or 3 other fields and your tested in there basic and have to be approved through the community manager for that program. It'll show the job the picked as primary and additional fields in the enlistment contact

I'm driving lcacs now so no longer a recruiter. Ask af recruiter about it they'll confirm it my buddy was one

What exactly do you think goes into commanding a tank platoon... or hell, even a tank? Are you actually this ignorant to assume that command of an armored formation is simple compared to other combat arms?

I'm a 3D0X2. Good job and translates well to the civilian world. Most people in my career field do not re-enlist because of the opportunity to make bigger bucks doing the same job as a civilian.
