Loyola - Flyers in Shreveport. Not sure how they got around Trademark issues, but arguably best logo/mascot in the country.

Catholic BR had a live bear mascot for years, named Blackie. Had his own trailer and went to the games.

see the post a couple up from yours. Someone wrote to Schultz and asked permission. He wrote a letter back that said "go ahead" and even had a drawing that he thought would be good to use.
