Came home from a week long vacation to a dead car battery. It's 5 yrs old, so it's time to replace.

Who makes the best car battery or does it even matter? Are they all about the same?

I was just going to pick one up at Napa, but if there is something clearly better, i'd go that route.

Most are made in the same factory regardless of brand. Go to autozone and get one of theirs with the warranty.

Google advance auto parts coupon codes. Find the code that works best for you up to 40% off for the $40 off $100 purchase. Code TRT41. Buy online and pick up at the store. Have Advance install it for free and swap your old battery for the core charge.

As others have said typical lead batteries are made in one of 2 major plants. I think there are 3 total that make them, but 2 of them have most of the market. So if you go to Autozone, Walmart, or Interstate for a lead battery you are getting pretty similar quality.

If you want a step up in quality then try AGM batteries. I got mine from Sam's Club but most auto parts stores will carry a AGM version of the battery you need.

AGM batteries are the best but if it's an everyday car almost any battery is fine.

Diehard Platinum or Odyssey (both $$$), but if you just have a regular car with no accessories, get whatever works with a 5 year warranty. Walmart, Sears, and all auto parts stores will be fine

Sucks. Their only decent batteries are the marine ones. They started having issues around 2001-02, and haven't fixed them since. I went through 3 bad red ones and one bad yellow one before getting an Odyssey
