So what happens when the lipids use as much as they can?

I actually would like to know more about metabolism.

not really... i know it would sound like a cliche, but a healthy, balance diet is far better than depending on getting your nutrition in pill form...

That's not the American way.

You would be best to visit a doctor and take specific vitamins based on what you lack from your diet or if you are highly active, etc.

nah... unless you LIKE increased estrogen levels... but of course, you already researched this stuff, i'm sure, so you already knew that...

oh, and the seeds are worthless too... your body isn't built to actually break them down, can cause severe constipation, and contain small amounts of cyanide... but, hey, you do you...

That's very true. But it's extremely difficult to fine tune a diet to accomplish a balanced diet. A balanced diet involves vegetables and fruit, which can be tedious to keep on hand. There is absolutely nothing wrong with supplementing diet with appropriate vitamins, etc.

even with getting a flu shot

you do realize that ONLY protects you from the flu,
Technically the average flu shot protects the receiver from 3-5 flu strains. There are usually 7-10 flue strains circulating in the southern parts of the US.

I take a gummy prenatal multivitamin daily. Extra folic acid will be good if I ever am pregnant.

And it makes my hair grow faster, stronger, and longer.

fricking great. I'll die any minute now. You can die from eating the fruit and vegetables in Africa, you realize that? My life is on the line here.

ETA Actually not joking about the fruit and veggies. We had a medic nearly die from eating a salad at a hotel restaurant. They thought it was a stroke at first, half his face went slack and everything. Had to get an emergency flight back to the UK. Then last year I had to take my girlfriend to the ER in the middle of the night from eating mangoes. She was 7 months pregnant.

supplementing diet with appropriate vitamins

re-read the thread title again... this is about MULTI vitamins... multivitamins that DO include those that have been mentioned by 2 separate healthcare professionals in this thread as being possibly something that could harm people...

while specific vitamin supplementation (like taking iron for anemia) is a generally good idea, it would require the requisite testing to see what vitamins and nutrients a person is lacking before starting therapy....

I use the piss test. If it looks and smells good in the morning I skip the vitamins.

why'd you leave off the 2nd part of what i said? the part where i mention strains, because is pretty much exactly what I'm talking about...

Multi-Vitamins are great IF you're deficient. Though if you're healthy enough there's probably no harm in taking them since your body will just flush out the excess.

hey, if it's working for you, do what works... that's what i tell my patients...

but i'm not gonna sit here and say "yeah, everyone go out and get some multivitamins because they are totally worth it", even though i'm a pharmacist, having a DIRECT vested interest financially in people buying vitamins.. it's not ethical... sorry, but yeah... it's misleading and could actually harm some people, and it's just a generally shitty thing to do
