If you can't figure out what a fancy restaurant is on your own you should not be in this thread.

I'm snobbish enough to decline chilled glasses. I can't stand them. None of the beers I prefer benefit from a chilled glass. Quite the opposite.

Better to stop worrying about what people think about such a minor point of etiquette. Your server knows what is acceptable in the place.

Clearly food and drink board

That being said, and having too many years in what's at least described as upscale dining. It's a situation where modern culture has out paced classic tradition. In any upscale restaurant the norm is to present the bottle and then pour into a glass.

If the customer insists on drinking from the bottle than oh well. People use their soup spoon to eat a salad, drink water from a straw, and lots of other trashy behavior. But, they're paying and class is not like it used to be.
You'd be shocked at the number of people who either like or expect their plate to be cleared even though other people at the table are still eating.
Going out to eat used to be a recreational activity amongst the upper class, but now thanks to fast service, quick service, casual dining, and the likes all the etiquette of eating out has mostly disappeared.

Some people have very different views of what is considered a fancy restaurant. My dad thinks copelands is fancy. LOL

For the record, nobody I know would go to Restaurant August or Commanders and order a beer.

I agree. I get so upset when they serve me my Pabst at Applebee's in a chilled glass. Seriously, that should be served Ina mason jar with motor oil on the rim.
