When you're eating at a fancy restaurant...should beer always be drunk in a chilled pint glass?

Or is having it out the bottle an acceptable form of enjoyment?

TL;DR: Is beer out of the bottle trashy?

This one. If they are serving swill that is fine out of a bottle, then it is not a fancy restaurant.

The bottle is to let the other hipsters know what kind of craft beer you're drinking.

I'm with you OP. I order Miller lite no matter where I'm at, and usually drink it out of the bottle if they bring one

Nah man, just because Hank put on his dressy jeans to go to dinner doesn't mean he can't get him a bud at a "fancy" restaurant.

No half-way decent beer should be drank out of a chilled pint glass you fricking animal.

Should be served in a room temperature glass.

1) You shouldn't drink beer in a chilled glass

2) Like wine, there are different types of glasses for each style of beer

whats really a crying shame is when people respond to a thread without actually reading it first.

I wasn't discussing food or drink, but etiquette at restaurants...

Please read next time moron

There's plenty of very nice (and expensive)places in NYC that serve beer. MARKT in midtown or Les Halles in the financial district comes to mind. Of course they are Belgian restaurants serving Belgian beer, but simply serving beer is not an indication of how fine the dining is.

I prefer drinking mediocre lagers, bocks and pilsners from a frosty glass. Its the only way I can tolerate them.
