Not sure why this seems far-fetched to anyone. It's been spreading for months and already has a confirmed presence in the states

This.

It wouldn't shock me to find that it's already in all 50 states. What we're seeing right now is VERY limited testing. Once more testing begins we'll see those cases jump and it's going to scare the shite out of a lot of folks until they realize only certain groups are highly susceptible to dying from it.

South Korea is already testing ~15k people per day. There's little reason why we can't ramp up our testing once the $8.5B COVID-19 spending bill makes it out of Congress.

Just saying, you are the third or fourth person this week that has a doctor friend with a confirmed virus sighting. Even people in this thread are posting rumors from other hospitals in LA. The odds of your rumor being the right one are small

That'll put a damper on West Monroe's recruiting.

It’s in NOLA too, just no tests yet. Multiple people have been diagnosed with pneumonia and negative for flu.

f that’s true then that’s concerning. The feds need to dump enough money into this so every facility in the country has ample test kits. To just not know and tell patients “go home and rest” is going to result in this shite getting bad.

Our numbers of confirmed infected people would skyrocket and the market would tank even worse. They won’t do that. They are going to increase testing on a scaled basis to prevent panic.

Last report from CDC was tests through March 1st - 472 tests had been run in total in the US. On March 2, CDC stopped reporting the number of tests.

This whole coronavirus thing is such bullshite. I wish someone in authority would stand up and say there's nothing we can do about it. Let it run its course. Sanitize your hands frequently throughout the day, try not to pick your nose as much and keep living life. If you're really young or really old or really sick already, you may have something to worry about. For 99% of us, keep living life. What a crock.

That seems to be what people are being told. Has someone in authority told you differently?

Someone I know who works at a hospital told me that they had a meeting about it this week and that they are projecting that within 14-21 days they will start seeing cases in Louisiana.

But also mentioned that it survives in cold places so as it warms up around here, it will likely not be all that bad..
