Former dipper and smoker here....
Pertaining to both smoking cigarettes and also using ANY smokeless tobacco product:
It's NOT the actual tobacco that is so bad, instead it is all the chemicals and additives. Same with our food for that matter.

I have a slab of Grizzly Straight long cut in right now.
But I don't put a spot cup on the table at meetings. I invented apparatus whereby I attatch a piece of wire long enough to fit over my head and attatch the ends to the two sides of a solo cup. By doing this, I can keep from offending people with a nasty cup on the table. The cup just hangs by my chest and all I have to do is tilt my head down and spit into the cup.

Yep. Amateurs have spit cups. I dip all day and no one I work with knows. I go to board meetings with dips. I don't get a four finger lip buster. Just a small pinch. I brush after a dip so my coworkers think I'm OCD lol. But there is a lot of interaction with coworkers and customers so I just say I want to have fresh breath.

I'm not researching....but is there any merit to the thought that levi garrett is 'safer' than actual dip....because of less chemicals and whatnot?

fine cut skoal is said to be "worse" than chewing tobacco. And in all my post i am not saying smokeless tobacco is not bad for you, it is. But its more likely you will have tooth problems due to the sugar than get cancer because of it. The shite we are eating/drinking are loaded with chemicals and preservatives.
There are people who are quick to say "oh you dip, you wil get cancer" while chowing down on a greasy burger and fries and their coke that is constantly clogging their arteries.
