Black lives don't matter when it's black on black crime apparently.

People are feeling rapey and not murdery.

Let's see what happens once the new mayor neuters the police department and replaces Dabadie with a new police chief who is more "sensitive" to the concerns of the black community.

That percentage is surprisingly low

That is probably due to the redefinition of what rape is now and women reporting rapes more.

This isn't empirical studies by any means but I saw a jump in rape in Houston and New Orleans crime stats awhile back.

Homicides (deaths) dont mean shite

We have better ER, shorter response times and every body has a phone to quickly report a crime, so less "deaths" after a crime/shooting.

"Shootings" is what needs to be reported.

I don't go into BR at night unless I have to, 10 years ago I wouldn't think twice about it.

Maybe it's because I am older & more aware, but I do not feel safe going to Mall of LA or stopping to pump gas on O'Neal Lane after dark.

Maybe because years ago crime was confined to certain areas & it doesn't seem to be that way now.

I'm far from an expert, it just seems that it is worse now.

Only 45 homicides in the city limits in 2016? Safer than Jackson.

i remember reading this in Wall Street Journal a few years back
quote:

"Did everybody become a lousy shot all of a sudden? No," said Jim Pasco, executive director of the National Fraternal Order of Police, a union that represents about 330,000 officers. "The potential for a victim to survive a wound is greater than it was 15 years ago."

In other words, more people in the U.S. are getting shot, but doctors have gotten better at patching them up. Improved medical care doesn't account for the entire decline in homicides but experts say it is a major factor.

Emergency-room physicians who treat victims of gunshot and knife attacks say more people survive because of the spread of hospital trauma centers—which specialize in treating severe injuries—the increased use of helicopters to ferry patients, better training of first-responders and lessons gleaned from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

What does the OT think?

I think violent crime is up but since its mainly in the hood I don't care. Burglaries are a little more concerning to my everyday life.
