I have done both. both are fun. You can live really large in Asia for cheap. but it can be a bit harder to get around.

3 weeks is on the min amt of time to spend in asia due to plane flights.

thailand is awesome. India is awesome but really intense. Skip china, its basically impossible to get around without chinese or getting robbed (scammed/ripped off, not straight theft). Japan is cool but really expensive.

I'm curious out of the numerous responses that said "oh definitely Europe" have actually been to Asia .

And when the hell did Asia become "unsafe". I'm going to guess he isn't going to North Korea, and just FYI, areas of Europe aren't particularly safe either.

I'd pick SE Asia all day. It just requires a bit more planning.

Asia is way safer than europe. I don't know what planet these people are living in.

I have probably spent 9 months in asia, and not once did I feel unsafe. I did get scammed a few times, but usually for less than $10.

I was going to do Europe, but during the final countdown I switched to Asia. It was the heat of the moment and only time will tell if I made the right choice.

No kidding . Violent crime in many Asian countries is almost unheard of.

Ditto but many tourist heavy areas have similar problems.

Honestly, time of year would really help determine my decision. Can't go wrong with either.

If you were single I would say Asia. If with a chick, Europe no doubt.

Solid simple advice right here.

So you encourage people to explore their gay side and you admit that you explored your gay side while in Rome?

We did India during Monsoon kind of on a whim.

First day in New Delhi I thought we made the worst mistake imaginable. Holy hell South LA has nothing on them for humidity.

Luckily, the rest of the time there wasn't so bad and we experienced very little rain just once.

Ya, I'm definitely only going back there from December to March.

My wife doesn't have much interest in going back with all the places we have left to see, but I'd really like to do southern India (Kerala, Goa, etc), watch cricket, and experience Holi.

I had to reroute from Varanasi to Udaipur on our trip. My wife still wonders why I even planned Varanasi to begin with considering how effed up it is, and how "nice" Udaipur was comparatively.

That sounds awesome! But, I'd be going with my wife. I'm still in the process of convincing her for a little 3-way action.

Hostel potential is super high. We generally stuck to 6-8 person max rooms (we had 4 of us). I'd avoid the larger rooms, you can get some riff raff that way. We met some really cool people/groups that I still stay in touch with.

Do you know where you want to go? I'd HIGHLY recommend Croatia these days in the summer if you're willing to venture a little further east. It's not too bad from Italy and the beach scenes there are like a lesser known version of Greece without all the turmoil.
