Each year a few bills get proposed at the state Capitol that have people shaking their heads.

This year: Mandatory church attendance.

An Arizona state senator thinks it is a good idea for the American people.

State Sen. Sylvia Allen, R-Snowflake, brought it up during a committee meeting Tuesday while lawmaker were debating a gun bill, not religion.

Allen explained that without a "moral rebirth" in the country, more people may feel the need to carry a weapon.

"I believe what's happening to our country is that there's a moral erosion of the soul of America," she said.

This is either incredible constituency pandering or incredible idiocy. I'm guessing it's both.

Sylvia' mother says Sylvia can't come to the phone.

Or Mulva, whatever her name is.

IWNHI, for the record.

Good! The young people in this country have no moral compass and its because they don't have Jesus in their lives. This is an awesome bill and will surely improve the safety and well being of the younger generations. I'm glad this state Senator took some bold initiative and said what we are all thinking: people in America need Jesus in their lives! Hats off to you, madame!

We need mandatory voting. That will fix this problem.
