Long story short I wrecked my truck and just got it back from the body shop. It had extensive damage that was fixed but before the wreck my oil gauge sensor had went out. I was hoping this would be fixed during the repairs but it was not. I understand it's immoral but if I was to go back and say that it was damaged during the wreck and needs to be fixed would they know it wasn't?

Don't know unless you ask. Mechanic will probably take your side, as he can get paid more from the insurance company.

except you dont know what is causing the gauge to read wrong...if its the dash part, you just exposed yourself as a fraud as it probably wasnt damaged in the accident.

you dont know where the wiring is why take the chance on getting made a fool of when its and easy solution to fix either the meter in the dash or the sending unit on the motor.

learn to fix it yourself. Its probably the driver motor but could be sensor too. About the easiest fix in the world- compared to insurance fraud.

It's an $80 dollar part that requires taking the manifold apart unless you have a specific tool which also cost $30 to buy. It's not a $5 part and a 10 min fix. I'm not going to say "hey, my oil sensor is malfunctioning now". Simply "this light is now on and the oil pressure gauge isn't reading and I don't remember it doing that before".

Tell your insurance it wasn't like that before. They'll pay to have it fixed without question. (Unless you have shite insurance like usaa, usagancies or any company with direct or general in the name)

Experience speaking here.

First, learn the English language, and second, stop raising the insurance rates for everyone else because you want to commit insurance fraud.

So it's a $110.00 fix and several hours.

That's worth lying about?

You've shown by publicly contemplating this fraud that you are a POS.
