I'm glad you believe in a god, I really tried, read the bible front to back at least 10 times. Just couldn't do it, but congrats for believing.

I'm not 100% about what I believe, I think it will always be evolving throughout my life.

But if belief in god had to come from the bible then I'd be an atheist in a heart beat. That book is ridiculous.

It does have some good stories and advice about how to live, but also just a much terrible and contradicting advice. Especially the Old Testament

I came to the conclusion many years ago that a faith based life is a happier one.

Wish I could believe again, but I doubt that happens.

I've never tried to convince my parents or anyone else though. Really think having something to believe in and thinking there is an afterlife makes one happier overall.

then there is nothing benevolent about God, a deity who would do that when providing absolutely zero evidence he exists and then sets the rules.

that's fantastic, and yet both parties end up in the exact same place when they die - nothingness

I wonder what a study would conclude of those who exercise regularly and eat healthy versus those that dont? I wonder if they could find correlation among immune systems, life span, blood pressure, etc, etc?

point being, people who find an outlet to help them relieve stress and anxiety, whether thru physical exercise or thru group therapy, or anything of the sort, it's no surprise they live longer, healthier lives Not because some unproven supernatural mystical being is causing longer lives

I believe this study. As they say, ignorance is bliss.

So which is the smart party, here? Is it the atheists, who live short, selfish, stunted little lives – often childless – before they approach hopeless death in despair, and their worthless corpses are chucked in a trench (or, if they are wrong, they go to Hell)? Or is it the believers, who live longer, happier, healthier, more generous lives, and who have more kids, and who go to their quietus with ritual dignity, expecting to be greeted by a smiling and benevolent God?

I'm talking about people who deny science vs people who embrace science. The choice is obvious.

Science and faith have nothing to do with each other. Anyone who takes a side on this argument is truly ignorant.

I just find that in general the atheist contingent is lacking in intellect. Nothing personal, just an observation..

He will let you use it but you just better not use it to choose the wrong answer.

As opposed to those brilliant, open minded Baptists I grew up with.
