But they can't take it away, right?

Yeah they notified me after I signed it. But actually the Note Edge at the time was a grand. So I paid 200 + 600 for 800 total. So wasn't completely full price. Not a big consolation.

Though I wouldnt have signed if I had seen that really small print beforehand.

Hmmm. I need to stop by and inquire about that.

We don't go over on data today. But did just upgrade TV's to 4K UHD. I could see going over steaming 4K UHD content as it becomes available.

ETA: with a contract.

You and all these other people saying that NEXT is a 'bad deal' need to realize that AT&T isn't going to hand you a $900 phone for $400. You're getting billed for it regardless. NEXT is the cheaper way to go 99% of the time.

Damn looks like I can get unlimited data and knock 20 bucks of my bill with this because I have Directv. I am currently paying 120 for 10 gigs. Says 100 for unlimited.

Sounds like AT&T appreciates you as a customer.

If you got a free phone with a two year contact and now your contract is more expensive and you're paying a monthly premium for the phone, how exactly is that the same thing?

Not sure what plan that is, but when I moved to Next my bill went down by about $20-30/month, and I got to upgrade ever year as opposed to every 2 years.

Can't go to Next or I lose unlimited Data. Looks like I'm stuck with the iPhone 6 for the future unless I want to pay full price :yak:

So you never bought a brand new iPhone when your 2-year contract was up and it was time to renew?

Most I ever paid was $50.

Most times I paid nothing. If you waited for the right time of the year, they would run deals on certain phones.

Like the Turbo 2 this year at Thanksgiving. With a 2 yr upgrade it was free. Less than a month old.

It was a piece of shite, after 2 of them I am now on a S5. But hey, great deal

If you like your plan you keep your plan.

Negative. It IS $40/month for the line, but they give you a $25 line discount if you purchase through NEXT plan, so the net effect is $15/line then add the $25 for the phone = $40 month, and you don't have to pay the $200 flat phone charge or $40 upgrade fee like before

Probably the simplest way to break it down.

Whew. Everytime I've heard that it's definitely turned out to be true.

Gotcha. Well if you're always going for the phones with the deals, which are usually the prior year models, I'm fairly certain it's still cheaper using NEXT--just buy the phone outright. If you bring you're own phone on NEXT, you still get the $25 discount. I can personally attest--I bought my OnePlus One for $350 from OnePlus and pay only $15 month for my line.

Or you could always buy a great condition used one from Swappa or Gazelle and come out even more ahead.

Why don't y'all just go to Sprint or T-Mobile if you think AT&T is trying to screw you?

When did I say they were trying to screw me?

I talked to a rep for 20 minutes the other day, unless I was talking to a moron, and they told me my bill will remain the same... but add in the cost of the phone. My current bill is $88 for unlimited everything except 450 minute plan.

I have unlimited, so unless I am reading this wrong, my bill will become $125 to remain that.

125x24=3000
88x24+200=2312

That $88 is taxes and fees included.

Now, I know I could take a lesser plan and my bill will remain the same... But I have had unlimited since 2008, and I don't plan on changing that. I use on average 13 GB a month with 18 GB being my peak. So going unlimited with my DirecTv is cheaper than doing the 15 GB package.

Unless I'm way off basis and completely have the backwards, if I do let me know because I really want to understand this haha.

The line access discounts with next mainly apply to the family plans, not really the old single line "minute" plans

You will likely save money, but not on the older plans as they aren't built the same way.

It's another way that they are trying to move people away from those old plans.
