I can't answer all of that. Depends on where you are and what services you are talking about. I don't think AT&T fails significantly more, they just have a bigger subscription rate in these areas.
Can only say that even if the switch is up and running it relies on hardwires not under their control.

They didn't bother to secure their equipment. They lacked disaster planning. They were far too slow to remedy the situation.
RCF issues are at switch level.
They failed business owners big-time and now they failed consumers.

Still dead in the Watson area. What a shite show. I was leaning on switching since Verizon has been having a lot of deals lately... but that just was the final nail in the coffin.

Just restarted phone and wifi call setting is still telling me to call att,but I can't make any damn calls.

It sucks, don't get me wrong. I always think AT&T gets a bad wrap because of subscription levels, but honestly I don't know what they are in the BR area.
Whatever caused this had to be major, but minor at the same time if people are getting service back already. Wouldn't be surprised to see dark areas on everyone's coverage since sites will be taken off line as equipment goes under. Mobile cell sites aren't that common to replace all that will need to be replaced.
