If she is resllly your friend, you should buy her an Emily Post book, give it to her in private, and tell her she needs it more than battered women.

I would 1) not go, 2) not donate, and 3) unfriend. Problem solved.

How old is she? Maybe this was just for close family members or very close friends because after a certain age friends usually stop buying gifts for each other.

She's not having a bday party. Her and another woman who have bdays a day apart invited a bunch of us to celebrate their bdays at a nice restaurant.

Which I was ok going to. Other friends are going as well, so should be fun.

Then today I get the fb invite about her donating her birthday to this charity.

I think you're reading too much into this, it seems as though she's using this as a suggestion not a requirement.

All 305 of them? She sent the charity invite to 305 people.

Yes I know that is what she is doing. No where is she stating this is an expectation.

This just kinda comes off, imo, as attention seeking.

No, it wouldn't bug me. I just probably wouldn't donate.

She already invited a bunch of us to some expensive restaurant to celebrate her bday(and I'm assuming all of us will be responsible for paying her bill).

If I invite people out for dinner, birthday or not, I'm picking up the check.

I'm not that close to her and wouldn't have gotten her a bday gift in the first place.
Wait, you were going to go to her Bday dinner and NOT get her a gift? That seems a bit odd. I mean, for guys, we never get each other gifts, but that's pretty standard for girls, I'm fairly certain.

Background on this fb friend...she posts selfies all the time of everything she does. She's the chick that posts a selfie in a bikini with a caption "Sunday Funday!"
Seems pretty irrelevant to the point. The end result is she's taking money or stuff that would have gone to her and asking for it to go to charity. Seems pretty miserable of you to bash someone for that.

How so? I don't usually buy bday gifts for friends unless they are really close friends. I've gone out/dinner to celebrate someone's bday several times and never once did I buy a gift. I wasn't the only one who didn't bring a gift as well.

And when I've told friends "hey I'm going to such and such to celebrate my bday, hope you can come" I'm not expecting a gift at all.

So she was expecting 305 people to get her a bday gift?

Again, I don't hate the girl. She's a nice chick that is always fun to be around. I just saw this on fb today, rolled my eyes at it...and figured it would make for interesting discussion on here.
