I seen him slam a few home. I think he did it just too show everyone he could. Bird was clutch. Game was on the line Bird was the man. Those days of the NBA were the golden age IMHO. He wasn't the best player ever but definitely earned his spot as one of the best all time greats.

Bird was an intense son of bitch he was in several fights especially when they played the hated lakers. Like you said not the greatest athlete but he got after it.

Bird, like M. Jordan, was a legendary trash talker. It doesn't surprise me he didn't coach long. Players with huge drive can struggle with those that don't.
