I actually think the term itself, while originally serving the function of "normalizing" transgenderism, will likely fall out of favor in the next decade or so. Cisgenderism only makes sense in a context in which genders are assigned as standard and non-standard. If gender is entirely a social construct, then there is no standard. If there is no standard, one can't be on the same side as, or across from, anything.

It will be interesting watching activists twist themselves over "cisgender" losing its near epithet status when people stand up and say "what do you mean, gender the same as my sex? My gender has nothing to do with my sex. This is simply the gender role that I feel fits me best, and how dare you imply that my gender is somehow less than any other. Bigot!"
