No, dumbass, I was speaking to all the "I would tell the cops to frick off" crowd in here.

I am really only a fan of laws that protect infringement upon your rights by others. I believe jaywalking laws do this, to a degree, in large cities. Imagine how long traffic would be delayed in NYC if people were allowed to jaywalk everywhere. In my opinion jaywalking, in that instance, would interfere with the rights of others.

I haven't watched the video yet but in many places - including Phoenix and Tucson - crosswalks can sometimes be 1 mile apart.
That's very true. However, walking parallel to the sidewalk is not the same as crossing the street.

Why does everyone keep mentioning NYC? This happened in Tempe, AZ during a summer night on a College Campus with an interaction by two campus employees.

Why not do that before demanding she show him ID?
He could have done that and it likely would have been prudent. I only got one side of the story and didn't watch the video. if there was one. Perhaps he did that.

Infringement on the lives of others is also a big one. A jaywalker can also cause other lives to be lost in an attempt to avoid the idiot who walks in front of traffic, causing driver to swerve and hit someone else either on foot or in another car.
It does affect the lives of others.

Nope. If she was detained by him for breaking the law she would be required to produce ID upon request.

Then say, "Hey, mam, will you kindly get out of the road so as to not obstruct traffic?" But if police did that, they would lose the tax collection racket.

Did anyone else catch one of the last lines in the news story?
The English Department is demanding a review to determine if "racial profiling" was involved?
Are you kidding me? All parties involved, her-the officer-the University, need to STFU and be embarrassed that this is national news.

If people would just do what cops ask them to and stop bitching about "rights" then none of this bullshite would happen. She got what she deserved .

I also want to add that CNN has edited the video several times now.
At first it started at the beginning of the altercation, now the video starts by showing the woman being thrown to the ground.

Classic no spin journalism.

Well if they reported pesky insignificant things like facts, truths, and eyewitness testimony how would they sell the fear and ignorance they get paid to spread?

They're usually like that, but from the video provided she's in an area with a ton of crosswalks. And there are a ton of things that don't go in her favor (I biked this area 100's of times).
Dot is where I presume she is pulled over. Lines represent crosswalks. Where she is, there is a light rail line, two hedges on both sides of the light rail, one way streets on both sides of the light rail, and crosswalks galore. If she's walking in the middle of the street, she's either literally in the middle of a street walking in traffic or against traffic. There's no median to walk in unless you're playing stupid games for stupid prizes against 6 ton light rail trains on the train tracks. Police officer probably had good suspicions to think she may be drunk or something, so... Provide ID. Her fault IMO.

I wonder if Obama will invite the officer and professor over to the White House rose garden for a beer to talk this out.

Based on her hairstyle, walking in the middle of the road and kicking the cop are just more instances in a pattern of poor decision making. Such intervention was probably necessary.

The MSM wants to paint their own picture? Shocking...

Jaywalking itself is a bullshite law.
Not in DC. People used to cross against the light all the time, blocking the already terrible traffic. Until the police started writing jaywalking tickets.
