Are you superstitious? If so, how bad?

Where I am stationed we have to drive by a very small community that is entirely visible from the highway. The homes are built across from a plant where they work. During the day it is mostly abandoned, so it is rare to actually see someone outside. Our crews drive by and dare not look at the community, which is named after a snake. There is a strong superstition that is very unlucky to see someone on the way out. Ironically there is no such superstition for the ride back.

I always do a sign of the cross when I takeoff. I fly all the time, I am not super religious, I just do it in hopes somebody up top watches over the flight.

That is about as close to superstition as I come.

I often think I'll get favorable winds for travel if I sacrifice a child before setting out like Agamemnon and Iphigenia (look it up you fricking illiterates). But I'm not psycho enough to murder my kids over it, I'll usually just punch them in the arm or say something hurtful to make them cry.

I believe the super is in reference to kind, as in supernatural, and not to degree, as in super pumped.

If my post count ends in the number 13, or if I've made 13 posts that day, or any variation of the number 13 is involved, I make another quick post.

The same with number of reps during a workout, or basically anything else IRL involving the #13. It's not really superstition, though, more like obsessive/compulsive.

Since I was just a wee lad I will not punch the clown before a Saints or LSU game. After the game is acceptable.

Not superstitious. Aware. Aware that there are things happening all around us: signs, omens, harbingers, auguries. The problem is most of us have our heads so far up our asses, we couldn't see one until it comes crashing in on our skulls.

Here's a big one: hawks. You see a hawk swooping by or even sitting in a tree giving you the evil eye, and you can take it to the bank that you're fricked. Maybe you'll get busted for dope. Or someone you love will die. Or you'll lose your house, job and woman. Something's gonna happen.

There are dozens and dozens more, but I don't have the time. Just open your eyes, you'll see what I'm talking about.
