So the most surprising thing about Peeple — basically Yelp, but for humans — may be the fact that no one has yet had the gall to launch something like it.

When the app does launch, probably in late November, you will be able to assign reviews and one- to five-star ratings to everyone you know: your exes, your co-workers, the old guy who lives next door. You can’t opt out — once someone puts your name in the Peeple system, it’s there unless you violate the site’s terms of service. And you can’t delete bad or biased reviews — that would defeat the whole purpose.

This won't end in a lawsuit or defamation at all.

Gonna be seekin' those 0 star reviews.

If you haven’t registered for the site, and thus can’t contest those negative ratings, your profile only shows positive reviews.

So basically just don't register for the site, gotcha.

I'm sure that people will only get constructive feedback that they can use to better their lives and overall appearance.

Here's the Facebook page. You can't even find it via search any more. The comments pretty much speak for themselves. 0% chance the Apple or Google stores will allow it. Founders are counts who clearly didn't think this thing through.

I'm most curious as to who the idiot VCs were that thought this could ever be monetized. The legal implications alone of launching such an app are hysterical to think about.

I'm almost tempted to say the announcement of this concept was a social experiment, because it's DOA.

Harassment and potential for libel. This is a pretty horrible idea.
