And now you all know why Race for the Cure makes so much money...and why it costs so much to organize.

It's not about "themselves" It's simply showing support dude..

Are you assuming that people who don't change their profile picture are supporting ISIS?

I decided to drink Kronenbourg beer this weekend

That was my showing of support. It directly helps the French economy

The attacks reminded me of my trip to Paris 6 years ago so I went back and looked through the album. That was the extent of my response.

I guess because I am so cynical to believe people on social media posting pictures of french fries and wine are only doing it to support France and not at all doing it for selfish reasons.

I mean, can't you see how heartbroken this guy is that he took a professional looking photo and surely posted the first one he took and in no way took 100 photos until he had just the right looking one so I know his support is genuine and not at all making it about himself.

I can feel his pain.

Also seeing people on FB post pics of themselves in front of the Eiffel Tower in support.

Seems like more of a subtle brag: "look at me, ive been to france before!"

The praying guy...

If you were uncertain of his prayers and positive thoughts...you may now rest at ease. Because here is the proof.

Not all bro. No one on social media uses it to make their lives more interesting than it really is. They post the bad with the good.

I honestly felt the same way after 9/11 when everyone suddenly flew the flag. It didn't bother me to see American flags everywhere, but the flags weren't going to really accomplish anything as far as helping the victims or fighting terrorists.

I think doing that is a bit different. It doesn't accomplish much outside of showing support like you said but it doesn't make it about that person like Slacktivism on social media does.

When Sid was sick, and even after he passed, many here were trying and willing to do more than just an avatar. Many even donated to St Judes and not once made it about themselves. Most were self-aware enough to make sure it remained about Sid.

Posting pics of your meal or a somber looking pic of yourself is lacking complete awareness IMO. Some of these people may have donated as well but I highly doubt it. The Kony shite was the start of this trend and I guess we are stuck with it.

I agree with Stout.

All of these people will be back to talking about Lamar Odom and which actor as aids in 2 days.
