Are pawn shop owners some of the trashiest people?

I have stopped a few times look for a deal on a thing or the other. I ask if their prices are negotiable, they always say no.

About a year ago, I was in the market for an edger. I see one sitting a pawn shop. I stop and look at it, it's beat to hell and has a price tag of $125. It was $200 for a brand new model. I talk to the about the price, telling him I can get it new for $75 more. He comes back with a smart arse answer that as soon as I buy it new, it becomes a $125 edger.

Funny thing is, he leans it back to start it, there was a crack in the gas tank, spilling gas everywhere.

I walk away telling him that $125 edger just became a boat anchor.

BTW, I jumped up and went ahead and bought a new McClane edger ($325).

Wouldn't that just mean that he has a poor condition edger especially overpriced?

Eta: btw, I never actually go into pawn shops. Occasionally when I drive past one I think about going in just to look for deals, but I always feel kind of sketched out about the idea.

I've actually only bought one thing from a pawn shop about 8 years ago, my first iPhone (iPhone 3). I got it for $50.

FWIW most (over 70%) of all Pawn shops and money lending , payday lending are owed by large corporations, although they may be run by locals, it has become very big business...over 20% of US pop (illegal and otherwise) do not have any bank accounts and many do not trust banks...

That's where you're going wrong. Don't ask if they are, just make an offer. I've bought a lot of stuff in pawn shops, and have never once paid the price listed.

I'm not a grammar nazi, but my goodness. You wrote 8 sentences and half of them didn't make sense. No wonder you frequent pawn shops.

I know one thing, when a strip mall containing a pawn shop, check cashing place, and Boost mobile store opens up, it's time to move away.

I bought my first amplipher for home stereo after I got married in my early twenties from a pawn shop. Guy wanted like 125 I told him I'd give him 60 and he took it. Had it for 14 years

I've met 3 people that owned pawn shops and check cashing businesses. One also owned 3 truck stops. The other 2 were very successful attorneys and none of them ever stepped foot in the businesses.

Somehow I've always thought you were a pawn shop owner or flea market vendor.

Lowest form of life. I had one experience (and only one) with a shop owner that had something that belonged to me, not pawned by me. He tried to convince me that the transaction was legit. He is no longer in business.
