My dad bought one 17 years ago and it's sitting in my apartment now, and still gets sat in on a regular basis.

I'd recommend a Barcalounger. They have (at least, the ones I've personally seen) all metal construction and seem like they'd be very durable. The ones I looked at were $1000 back in 2003. That's why I didn't get one back then.

I'm sitting in a lazy boy recliner that was purchased in probably 1988, so almost 30 years old. Could use reupholstering, but works perfectly. Rocked 3 children in this chair. Use it every day.

You get what you pay for with recliners. The 2 I have in my living room were $6,000 each and easily worth every penny. As far as low end recliners go, Laz-E-Boy's are pretty decent

I take chairs pretty seriously, don't get to sit a lot but life's too short for crappy and uncomfortable furniture...same with beds. ALWAYS, buy the best you can afford. On the low end, La-z-boy is the better made of the group IMO, had 4 leather La z boys over the years.. recliners will fall apart quick if cheap. I bought an Eames chair in the 80's... it was over $2k back then and would imagine at least $5000 today... I don't know the point in recommending for the OP. They look nice but I never was able to really get comfortable in mine. The biggest deal for me is La-z-boys are just not a great looking chair, period. I bought a Barcalounger for my mom for Christmas about 20 years ago and didn't hold up as well. The Eames look cool but the price of a used car and not the most comfortable. Lately I've been interested in the Ekornes Stressless and plan on checking them out. Does anyone stock them in BR?

My first "big" purchases out of college were a nice TV and a Leather oversized, overstuffed Lazy Boy Glider Rocker. Paid $1,000 for it, and it's just as nice now as the day I bought it--13 years ago...

I'd recommend checking out Flexsteel brand. My wife wanted something that looked a little nicer. I wound up liking it more than lazyboy. Is more comfortable and has higher overall quality.

I own a set of Lazy Boy theater recliner "love seats". Had since 2002. Lifetime warranty. Free service support. Had those guys out twice to keep them tightened up and operating properly. They've replaced some glides and scissor supports on the lift area that supports your legs. Overall, I'm happy with them.
