Buying a gun is cheaper than moving and once you shoot an intruder, word gets out and your neighborhood becomes safer.

Crucify me but the only people that should be allowed a gun are military personel and cops. Hell, even the cops in the UK carry night-sticks instead of a pistol. I am ex military too so I know guns.

As long as all of the bad people can have guns, the good people should be able to as well. I am sure there are a few magazine workers in Paris that wish they carried a handgun.

That's adorable. More and more are armed with tasers, now. Every police officer in Northern Ireland carries a firearm, and even in Britain - there are thousands of armed officers.

I am a cop (retired) and I disagree with you. Nothing wrong with law abiding citizens owning weapons if they choose to. It is just like anything else you own. Be a responsible gun owner.

I have 2. I keep a 9mm in a safe in my bedside table and I keep a compact .40 in my truck. I feel more comfortable traveling with one. You just never know these days.

This whole debate goes back to ignorance. People act like guns are some kind of explosive device that can go off at any random time. It's a frickin machine just like a computer or car and not any more dangerous. Learn how to operate one and reap the benefits. The media has done a great job of creating a boogeyman. :soapbox:
