Apeman is probably the best camera brand that I’ve found. Have four of them.

Can you offer a model number or something

I have a Rove that records video and audio, and has a GPS function that records your speed with a time stamp. Provides an additional layer of courtroom evidence when the cop tells you he recorded you going a certain speed if you know you were not.

Yes, but with limitations.

I was traveling on LA-73, about to make a right turn, when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction turned into my lane (they were turning into a parking lot).

Typically, this is a 2-lane road, however, in this instance, there was a turning lane. The turning lane started way past its designated area. In other words, if the turning lane was 100 feet in length, vehicles were backed up 1000 feet in length.

Someone from the turning lane let the vehicle traveling in the opposite direction in, and they darted across my lane, and I hit their rear right quarter panel.

No tickets were given. No admission of fault, however, my insurance company said I was at fault, because I could have slowed and stopped in time.

Prior to the accident, I was going 25 mph. I slowed down to 13 mph, before I hit them. I did not have enough time to stop. I provided my dash cam video to my insurance company.

My insurance company said it was not worth fighting, and they were going to pay out the claim that the other driver made.

I was livid, because, it was bullshite, but there was nothing I could do. I was right, but I was wrong.

you are a business owner, take my word for it, install one pointed forward, one to the rear and here is the key !!! Third camera pointed at YOUR DRIVER !!!!! Trust me…

Our dump trucks have cameras facing both forwards and towards the driver.

Footage is accessible real time and also uploaded to the cloud.

One of the drivers flipped a truck, and we were able to pull the footage to see that he fell asleep while driving. Turns out he was driving for another company at night and was getting less than ideal sleep.

We have them in all of our fleet vehicles at work. Honestly, they catch our employees in indiscretions far more often than they implicate is. Take from that what you will…

Having a dashcam makes the stress of driving around uninsured motorists in BR a lot more tolerable. If some idiot does something moronic so be it when it's not a "he said, she said" interaction with the cops and drivers.

Probably goin to install one. A few weeks ago I was almost in a car wreck with a crazy driver. It almost felt like they were purposely trying to get me to hit them.

You don’t show the video to the cop, you take it to the city attorney or district attorney’s office and suggest they might/might not want to pursue the charges OR if it’s a situation where you have to get an attorney you let him instruct you on what to do with the visual record. Never show your hand to the officer on the scene.

Wouldn’t even mention dash cam, pull card and give to insurance adjuster. We could negate quite a few Gordon’s if every commercial auto were required to install cams by their carrier.
I worked with a carrier that has defeated many $1mil verdicts and legal fees by requiring their insureds to install cams.
The faster your insurance company can respond the faster they can defend bullshite claims.

I have one in my old chevy. I hope I never need to use it for an accident, but it does give me piece of mind.

I've been contemplating installing a dash cam in my vehicle.

Has anyone been in an accident in which your dash cam has actually been useful in preventing or helping in litigation?

I don't want to go thru the hassle of installing one if all the insurance company wants to do is settle the case and dismiss any video evidence.

I bought one a few months back because I got sideswipped in my morning commute. Fortunately all worked out for me with the other party's insurance.

I bought a RedTiger on Amazon. It was easy to set up and only cost $150 ish. Currently selling for $130.

You will need to buy a SD card. I did not buy the hardwire kit yet so I have to remember to turn it on and off. I have left it on all night several times and no impact on my battery.

Absolutely could. Once you install one and realize this you drive a little less aggressive.
