Lsu has a good but not great law school. So if you want to stay in Louisiana and practice there, LSU is a good option. However, Louisiana lacks a solid and robust black middle class base like Atlanta, Charlotte, chi-town, even Dallas.
A prosperous career depends on knowing the right people so there isn't a wide network of black professionals in Louisiana to form the path for a law student.
So if you are black and want a successful career, applying to LSU might not be the optimal career path to take.
I've been to the mardi gras balls in Washington, D.C. and there are often a huge number of white laws students or just graduates trying to glad hand people. There aren't as many black politicians and staffs to make those political dreams happen. I've also be too some Maryland and Tennessee political events and the crowd is a lot more diverse, so the best and brightest from Louisiana might be simply bypassing LSU law completely.
Its pretty telling of the expectations of this board that somehow the standards are keeping black people out when the more logical answer might be they aren't applying at all because it's not a smart buy.

You don't have to go far to find it but why are you looking for it the more stupid events happen remind us. Cops do job racist, law student starts looking for it he will find it let's keep opening that wound. I'm not saying out of mind out of sight but it only took fergeson for many groups to say this is what we WERE TALKING ABOUT.

I can tell you for a fact that the author was disciplined by the school for engaging in oral sex with other men in the bathroom and library conference room. Another source told me he has a strange obsession with the taste of semen, used the words "savors like a fine wine".

i notice that this story has no mention of the secret classes for minorities that existed, at the least, when i was a student at LSU law.

I remember reading this back in October. If the author was truly offended by the comment, why did he choose to write about it in the Huffington Post and not, you know, talk to the "offending" professor?
My money is on Cheney being the professor in question. He would always say something goofy to students in passing (regardless of race). It was usually something totally innocuous, said with exaggerated sarcasm. For instance, "Uh oh, looks like you three are up to no good."
Long story short, the author was looking for something to bitch about and found it in seemingly the smallest way possible.

No mention of secret classes or the BSBA because the author wanted one thing, and one thing only: to be published by Huffpo.
And, it ain't gonna happen with an article saying: despite LSU LAW's efforts, minorities are still underrepresented, but the school takes great care to ensure they are successful and welcomed at the school.

Seriously, what the hell was up with those? Apparently some professors would visit and give out their exam questions (and how to answer them) to the attendees.
I always found it disturbing that the school felt they needed to provide a remedial course at a professional school. Is this common at other law schools?

i do wonder how the secret classes would be spun by the SJWs
it is an honest effort to help unprepared students who would not have been admitted but-for their race (and LSU's need to have more minorities). however, it does create the very "in-group" identification by race that SJWs hate. it's also patronizing to racial minorities in a way.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The email that the chancellor sent in response to all of these articles about racism at LSU law was a bunch of dribble about the law school going out of their way to increase diversity at the law school. He listed the increase in minority students over the past 4 or 5 years, which was a significant jump. Do you think it's a councidence and there was a significant jump in qualified black candidates than just 4 years ago or do you think maybe there has been a concerted effort to "diversify" the law school by accepting less qualified students?
Don't even get me started on the privilege some students get during law school, whether it's scholarships, or job interviews, or being a member of the Black Law Student Society.

no idea. it became an issue when i was there when it was discovered. people were told, basically, that LSU was under threats to lose its accreditation by the ABA. it's not even that LSU is discriminating against minorities, professional grad schools do the exact opposite across the board.
so harvard recruits UT-Austin-level students. UT-Austin recruits LSU-level students. LSU has to recruit Southern-level students. in order to ensure that these unqualified students don't fail out (and threaten accreditation), the school has to cater to them early and often. there is a program BEFORE the semester starts as well for incoming students. there was a student in my legal writing class who had problems keeping up who i was trying to help who told me about them. she told me knowing she was leaving so she didn't care about the secrecy.

Maybe that is true but since you went there I will point out the fact that only one in 6 black people is as smart or smarter than the AVERAGE white person and that is why we have a racial divide. It really is that simple.
