My New Year’s resolution is to get more out of my day (workout, read, chores etc). My typical day before now is waking up at 6:45 and then quickly heading to work.

No kids at the moment, understand that will change things when time comes.

I have been trying to wake up at 4 AM the past week and as expected it’s a struggle. But I want to make this happen.

Anyone with this schedule have any pointers? When do you go to bed? Do you hit that 2PM afternoon wall?

TIA

Wait until you get old. It will happen automatically and you can't stop it.

Yes 4:50. It sucks but otherwise I wouldn’t ever have time to myself. I go bed 9/930, drink coffee and sleep in on weekends. If you workout in the morning, you will get energized (after the initial few week).

6:45 to 4:00 is a pretty drastic change.

Start with 6:00, then move it to 5:30, etc etc.

I'm up every work day at 5, weekends at 5:30-6.

The weird thing is that I was a night owl when I was younger. Not anymore though

In.. 30 years of habitual early rising can't be turned off.

Now what?

If you don’t have kids, do whatever is best for your body’s natural rhythm. It’s probably bed later and wake later. Go to work, then after work you can workout and knock out chores etc. I don’t see why you’d force yourself to wake up at 4 just to do chores or workout when you can sleep in and do it after work

I wake up at 4:25 every morning except on Sunday. I used to go for a short run but don't do that anymore because I'm lazy. I normally read and enjoy some peace and quiet before everyone wakes up.
Getting out of bed will get easier. In a month it won't be a problem for you. The sleep button is the devil. You just have to stand up when the alarm goes off. I'm normally asleep between 9:30 - 10:30 every night.

I understand your point, but I know myself, after working a full day my motivation to workout and do chores is low.

I’m trying to accomplish things early in the day to attempt to get shite done and get in a healthy routine.

Attempt being the operative term here. I get most NY resolutions are wishes, but I’d really like to start doing more so I can relax after work instead of feel like I have more work.

Plus we would like to have kids this year and I think early rising isn’t the worst habit to be in when it comes time to be a dad.

What sucks is that I usually have to take a piss right around 3am and probably 25% of the time I can't go back to sleep

Wake up around 3:30 every morning, and rarely up past 10 at night. Stay off my lawn.
