Lost my Golden Retriever July 2017, ready to purchase a new family member. Any recommendations or referrals to other Golden Retriever breeders appreciated. TIA

One of my friends has one of their goldendoodles and they love the dog. I've been around it a few times and it is a very well behaved dog. Almost like a damn human.

And I am not a goldendoodle person

We got our from a shelter and it was a piece of crap. Definitely go breeder. Those dogs are in shelters for a reason.

I bought one from there about 3 years ago. Not cheap, but I've been happy with my dog. No health issues and he's beautiful.

I've heard mixed results. A few years back, maybe around 2012-2013, a litter came out with some serious issues. Friend of mine got a female about a year ago, dropped $1.5k on her. Hasn't had problems so far but I am a little hesitant. Another friend bought three golden doodles from a group in Orange, Tx. Those three dogs are absolutely fantastic.

Have dark colored golden retriever from breeder in Amite. Been really happy with him, he makes 4 in December. Outstanding family dog and has also made for a good duck hunter as well.

I've gotten 6 great dogs from shelters over the last 25 years. World's greatest lab, fantastic shepherd, mutt, chihuahua, chow, beagle, All loving loyal well behaved, housebroken within two days and world class watchdogs. Once a dog (or dogs) are meeting your expectations they will train each other. They learn fast so even a day or two of patience is all it takes.

Hey, to each his own chief. We brought her home and she ran away the first afternoon. Only see her a few times a week and doesn't even glance at our house when she passes. My little girl tried to pet her a few weeks ago and she almost got bit. I don't think that would happen with a better bred dog but I understand that some of it is how they're raised.

Seems unnecessarily excessive unless you are wanting to put them in a competition.
